Former Villanova guard Jahvon Quinerly announced his retirement from basketball in an Instagram post (below).
A 6-foot-1, 175-pound point guard from Hackensack, New Jersey, Quinerly came to Villanova in 2018-19 after starring at Hudson Catholic. A five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American, he averaged 20.1 points and 6.3 assists as a senior in high school.
But Quinerly did not have immediate success at Villanova, averaging 3.2 points in 9.1 minutes as a freshman in 2018-19. He transferred to Alabama after one season with the Wildcats, and compiled 1,149 points in three seasons for the Crimson Tide. In 2023-24, he averaged 13.3 points and 5.0 assists in a fifth-year season at Memphis.
