La Salle will unveil the first stage of its arena renovation on September 25 with the opening of Tom Gola Plaza, which will be adjacent to new Glaser Arena, the school announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Gola Plaza, named after the former legendary Explorers player, will include the Gola statue, new lighting, a renovated surface and historical marker. Gola led La Salle to the 1954 NCAA title and finished his historic college career with 2,461 points and 2,201 rebounds.
The Explorers will officially open Glaser on November 4 when they host American.
Coach Fran Dunphy talked about his excitement about the season and new arena last week when he joined us on Episode 24 of the Bracy Sports Media podcast.
